Our Team

David Walston


David Walston, CPA, the Founder and CEO of Walston Advisory Firm for the past eight years, David has collaborated with clients to develop financial plans, identify business opportunities, and develop plans to capitalize on them.

Prior to founding Walston Advisory Firm, David served as Chief Financial Officer at Sentient Laser and Brentwood Church. At Sentient Laser, he demonstrated his adeptness in developing and implementing business-wide policies and procedures, leading the team in choosing and implementing a new ERP for the business, and developing financial forecasts. At Brentwood Church, he managed a team to meet reporting deadlines and transitioned the organization from an annual budget planning to a rolling forecast, saving the organization $100k by implementing an expense reporting software.

Earlier in his career, David honed his skills in senior financial analysis at Horizon Behavioral Health and BWX Technologies, Inc., where he prepared management presentations, developed forecasts, and provided ad-hoc financial analysis. As Treasurer of the Board of Directors at Proven Men Ministries, he partnered with the executive director to create financial goals and plans, showcasing his commitment to nonprofit work. David’s career is marked by a continuous effort to increase efficiency, accuracy, and profitability in all his roles.


Mandi Livingston


Mandi Livingston is our Office Manager and HR Specialist, with over 15 years of experience in service, support, and creativity. Since joining the team in November 2022, Mandi has brought her unique skill set, including traditional and digital printing, creative thinking, proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, and attention to detail, to elevate our client relations and create a positive work atmosphere. Besides her work at the firm, Mandi is an active community member, volunteering for local events and serving as a youth advisor and secretary in various organizations.

 Zachary Kroon


Zachary Kroon, a versatile professional with a diverse background, is a valued Tax Preparer at Walston Advisory Firm. Since joining in December 2022, Zachary has leveraged his strong skills in tax preparation and income tax to deliver excellent services to our clients. His prior experience includes roles as a Financial Advisor Intern at Michigan Financial Companies, where he gained substantial knowledge in client acquisition and financial management, and as a Capital Markets Associate at Home Point Financial, where he honed his skills in loan processing. This blend of financial acumen and entrepreneurial spirit makes Zachary a crucial asset to the Walston Advisory Firm team.

Matthew Morris


Matthew Morris, with 25 years of experience in payroll and 15 years in bookkeeping, serves as the Payroll Coordinator and Bookkeeper at Walston Advisory Firm since June 2021. He commenced his career processing payroll for 18,000 employees at the University of Utah, contributing to self-service application development and program implementation. Matthew further honed his skills in bookkeeping and payroll processing at a Logistics Freight Company, and later at Craig Hancey and Company, handling various clients’ needs. At Walston Advisory Firm, he expertly manages payroll, bookkeeping, and assists with tax return entries, all while maintaining his commitment to his family and passion for Utah Jazz and golf. Matthew is known for his detail-oriented approach, efficiency under tight deadlines, collaborative spirit, and constant pursuit of staying abreast with the latest trends and technologies in his field to exceed his clients’ expectations.

 Tiffany Kuenzi


Tiffany Kuenzi, a diligent bookkeeper with nearly two decades of customer service experience, joined Walston Advisory Firm in August 2021 and has been an asset to the firm ever since. Her role involves managing clients’ financial books on a monthly and annual basis, keeping them informed about their business’s financial health, and assisting with other financial management aspects like inventory and asset management. Tiffany leverages her B.A. in Physics and B.S. in Biology from Randolph College to bring a meticulous attention to detail and robust computing skills to her role. Beyond her professional life, Tiffany is a dedicated classical home educator for her four children and actively contributes to her local classical homeschool co-op. As a lifelong learner, she enjoys reading, exploring new hobbies, and practicing martial arts. Tiffany’s commitment to service and eagerness to embrace new challenges make her an integral part of the Walston Advisory Firm family.

Shelly Walston



Shelly Walston is the co-founder of the Walston Advisory Firm and the Wife of David Walston. Shelly’s professional journey is a testament to her diverse talents and interests. Shelly splits her time between her work with Walston Advisory Firm, Leading Worship at her Church, and nurturing and guiding her three children.

Beyond her professional life, Shelly has a deep love for music, a passion she often integrates into her role at her church. An avid learner and teacher, she finds joy in mentoring others, a testament to her empathy and wisdom. Shelly’s key qualities, including discernment and intelligence, have been instrumental in her journey and are traits she continually seeks to instill in her children.

Shelly Walston is a remarkable blend of business acumen, maternal instinct, and spiritual leadership, making her a true role model for those around her.

 Christopher McDaniel


Christopher McDaniel is a member of the Board of Advisors. Currently serving as the Business Analytics Lead at Liberty University. At Liberty University, he manages a technical team responsible for executing marketing campaigns for a multi-billion dollar enterprise.

Before his current roles, Christopher held several operations-focused positions that further solidified his expertise. As an Operations Data Analyst at Virginia Distillery Company, he established an internal data warehouse and developed dashboards for data-driven sales and marketing strategy, budgets, production reporting, and inventory management. His tenure as a Business Operations Specialist at Catalyst Communications Technologies Inc. saw him integrate Lean techniques into supply chain processes and manage inventory lifecycles, leading to significant operational improvements.

Earlier in his career, Christopher was a Senior Operations Analyst at J.Crew, supporting fast-paced call center operations and leading the deployment of several high-impact internal projects. His work in reducing reporting workload by 40% and increasing forecasting department accuracy showcased his ability to blend operational insight with data-driven decision-making. Christopher Mcdaniel’s extensive experience in operations and his knack for strategic planning make him an invaluable asset in any business context.

Christi Cocilo


Christi Cocilo is a Member of the Advisory Board. She is a highly experienced campus recruiting professional, currently serving as the Senior Manager of Campus Recruiting at StepStone Group. She has been employing her extensive experience in talent acquisition and recruitment strategy to manage and coordinate recruitment efforts for the firm. Prior to StepStone Group, she spent close to six years at Dimensional Fund Advisors, where she progressed from a Campus Recruiter to a Recruiting Manager, demonstrating her expertise and commitment to the field.

Before her tenure at Dimensional Fund Advisors, Christi made significant contributions at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. Over four years, she initially managed logistics for on-campus recruiting events for around 150 Fortune 500 employers as a Recruiting Coordinator. Later, as a Sector Manager for Finance, Healthcare, and the MMS Program, she handled recruiting relations with companies in these industries, guiding them in creating effective recruiting strategies.
